The objectives of anti-virulence strategies are not to inhibit bacterial growth, not to put evolutionary pressure, not to select for resistant mutants/strains. Anti-virulence drugs aim at blocking one or more steps (but not all) of the infectious process. As a consequence, the pathogen will be cleared more efficiently from the infectious site.
